My new church makes me giggle because I am such a fangirl. Okay, it's call the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration. Their youth group is called Crossover, and guess what? The 20 somethings are called NextGen. *giggle*

Also, in its awesomness, the youth group page has a GLBT link welcoming all people of all sexual orientations with a statement that sexual orientation should never be a hindrance to spiritual beliefs. And this is Texas no less. ^_^

I got my new kitten this morning. She and Nathaniel already get along surprisingly well. He's currently asleep in the window sill behind my computer desk, and she's asleep in the sun on one of my kitchen chairs.

Her name is Sophie )

Aren't they cute?

Also, I have videos of Nathaniel and now of Nathaniel and Sophie on youtube

Enjoy!

So... I'm getting a new kitten on Thursday. She's also four months old and almost exactly the same size as Nathaniel. She's all black except for a little white spot under her neck.

Her name is currently Sabrina, but I don't like it. Mom suggested Nora.

So, LJ, give me some suggestions for a kitten's name. I like people names. Please!!

I finally got my internet turned on last night, so what did I do? I came home to Longview where I won't have easy internet access. *facepalm* Oh well, it's only until Monday.

I also finally have all of my furniture. The couch and the loveseat look a lot bigger in a one bedroom apartment, by the way.

So... classes. My anatomy and physiology class seems interesting enough. I like the teacher, and it's just speech and hearing, so I don't have to learn everything. I'm in love with my language acquisition class, which should surprise no one. I heart the teacher. She's a young-ish psych professor. My neurogenic communication disorders professor reminds me of my AP English III teacher, except without all the false happines. I keep zoning off, so I think the book is going to be my saving grace. My articulation and phonological disorders class is 3 hours on Wednesday afternoon, and it's just not that interesting. The first two weeks we're learning, guess what? THE IPA! *sigh* Observation should be interesting. 25 hours of watching people work. I think I can manage.

Still don't really know anyone, and my classes are huge! Also, still no dorks as far as I can tell. Sad day.

Christmas break has been lovely for the most part, but it ends in a couple of days.

My grandfather's funeral was today. It was nice. Three of my brothers came into town for it, and the rest of my family went to the graveside service in Louisiana on Sunday. Odd fact: My grandfather was born on 1/1/1915, married his wife on 1/1/1937, retired from his job on 1/1/1980, and died on 1/1/2009. Very bizarre, no?

I'm moving to Dallas tomorrow with all of my stuff but my furniture... and we aren't hiring movers. And I live on the 2nd floor. And my dad is 68 and my mom has terrible knees. This seems like a bad plan. And we do have some furniture (a bed, a small dresser, a TV, a couple of chairs), but none of it is mine. My parents are supposed to go to Mobile on the 15th to get my furniture and hire movers there and hire movers in Dallas to move the old furniture in and the other furniture out.

Nathaniel's getting neutered today. Poor thing.

I'm getting advised tomorrow, registered for classes sometime, trying to get acclimated to driving in Dallas, and starting class on Monday. Aaaahhhh!!!

Also, I won't have internet in Dallas for at least a few days.

So... here's the situation. I'm supposed to go to Meridian, MS, on Tuesday to see the girl I'm talking to, dating what-have-you for New Year's Eve.

I talked to her on Friday night for about an hour. All's well.

I sent her a text message yesterday asking if I could call her in 30 minutes and never heard back. Not a big deal. She was driving two hours home. Maybe she went to bed early. However, I've sent her a couple of text messages today (not being irritating) and have tried calling. Nothing. She's an internet junkie, but she hasn't been online at all.

I'm starting to get a little worried because I'm supposed to be leaving for her house in 36 hours, and she was traveling in Christmas traffic.

I'm just not sure if I should worry. I mean, it's only been 48 hours, but usually we talk everyday even if it's just one text.

*sigh*

EDIT: FOUND HER! All's well.

What's new?

I started watching Doctor Who day before yesterday, and I'm just about to start season 2. I can already see why people are 10/Rose shippers, and I've only watched them interact for about 10 minutes. Jenna, you seriously need to watch this show. Like... yesterday.

I'm going to my high school's state football championship game this weekend. It's only the third time we've made it to state in 71 years, so it's a big deal. And we got beat last time.

I'm still slowly, slowly making my way through Saving Connor Book 5.

It's currently 3:00 AM. I have been awake for 2 of the last four hours. There is now a nasty storm going on outside, so I'm awake again. My alarm is set to go off in 3 and a half hours, so I can finish packing and drive eight and a half hours home tomorrow. Why can I never sleep on nights before long drives? *sigh*

On a happier note, I'm a finished for the semester and should quite likely have a 4.0.

Also, saw Twilight again. I heart that movie, but I have to say thatI seriously lost my shit during the first "sparkle action!!" moment. Seriously, I was laughing so hard (silently to some extent) that my eyes were watering. I'm not even sure why other than the fact that it should be such an incredibly tense scene, and it's just not, and also.... oh god, the sparkle action makes NOISE.

Okay, so I've blogged through the storm (mostly), so I'm going to attempt sleep again.

Is it bad that my desire to go home to Longview sooner rather than later just multiplied times 100 because Repo! The Genetic Opera is playing in Dallas?

Cause... cause... I really, really want to see that movie, and I don't know how long it will be airing.

Also, finished Book 4 of Saving Connor today. Only 58 more chapters to get to the part I'm really anxious to read again. *sigh*

Three exams down, one to go. Should have another 4.0 this semester. Woot.

It's not a full moon, is it? Because my kitten has been a MONSTER today. My right hand is swollen and sliced and bitten all to hell, and he's been banished to the bathroom 5 different times. And it takes 6 (or more) "no"s and scruff grabbing before that happens.

Also, exam tomorrow. Can not study. Have been angry and tense all day for no reason. Seriously, feels like the full moon.

Thanksgiving was, for the most part, a success.

Nathaniel and my parents' dogs do not DO NOT get along, so he's spent the whole week in my (pretty large) bedroom.

It is currently 5:44 in the morning, and I've been awake for over an hour thanks to my kitten. I'm having difficulty going back to sleep, but I'm hoping that once I'm up moving about for a little while I'll be able to go back to bed.

I'm rereading LightningontheWave's Saviing Connor Arc, and it might be even cooler than I remember. This fic is just amazing. I can't recommend it enough. I'm reading a book a day so far, which will certainly change in the next couple of days.

I get to see the girl tomorrow, which makes me very happy. On that note, I ended up having another long conversation with my mom about sex. I love those, which might be weird, but it's cool that I can be honest with her.

Two more days of class, three days of exams. A week of packing. Potentially seeing the girl again. Home to TX for Christmas. Back to see the girl for New Years. Back to Mobile for a couple of days. Move to Dallas. Get advised. Get acclimated. Start classes again. It's going to be an interesting 6 weeks.

Nathaniel is only now eight and a half weeks old, but he's so much bigger and currently half-sleeping and purring his heart out in my lap. This is love.

I've started talking to a girl off of OKCupid, and it makes me very happy. I met her last weekend, and I'm going to see her again the weekend after Thanksgiving.

I'm kind of depressed because I have nothing going on fandom-wise and am not interested in any of my shows. The only reason I'm still watching True Blood every week is that my roommate and I watch it together. I also have no books I'm particularly interested in reading.

[info]shadowen will be here in less than 48 hours. Very exciting.

The semester is almost over, and I will be moving away from the new girl, away from Jenna, away from Louie, and to a place I don't know at all. This terrifies me more than makes me happy.

I miss so many people it's not even funny.

So, I'm happy about Obama, though still pretty hesitant about him as a whole. My parents both voted McCain, which makes me sad because my mom was leaning towards Obama for a long time. Not that it really would have mattered as we're from East Texas.

I'm extremely, extremely disppointed about Prop 8 and Florida and Arizona.

In other news, I'm behind on my NaNoWriMo, but I plan to more than catch up today. I'm feeling more energetic today than I have for the past week or so.

From [info]shadowenangel: The Big Read estimates that the average adult has only read 6 of the following books on their Top 100 list.

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicize those you started but did not finish.
3) Underline the books you LOVE.
4) Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people who've read 6 and force books upon them.
5) My addition: Strike out the ones you hated

Books, books, books )

Read: 31 in their entirety, bits and pieces of about 15 more.

I'm 4400 words into NaNoWriMo, and I'm trying to get to about 6000 today. Page 10, Chapter 2.

So, I'm doing NaNoWriMo this year, and I really want to actually finish. So, feel free to nag me during the month of November.

Also, I wish it was November 1 already. I want to start writing!

I got into University of Texas at Dallas. Good for me. Now, I just have to find a place to live between Richardson and Dallas and pack and move and get advised and registered and figured out how to get around Dallas without giving myself a heart attack and... and... and... I'm very excited about getting in, though, because it's an awesome program.

I spent 62 dollars today on food, cat food, cat bed, and Halloween costume. Blech.

I have a kitty in my lap, and he's adorable. I can't believe that he's already bigger.

Also, yay! I get to see Jo in less than a month. *happy dance*

I'm behind on Heroes, Supernatural, Bones, and True Blood. Go me.

Life is moving along, slowly but surely. I still haven't heard from UT Dallas about whether I'm in or not, which is extremely frustrating.

I've read four books in four days, three of which were semi-romance novels set in Ireland and the other was the first Vicky Bliss book by Elizabeth Peters. It was alright. I was sort of unimpressed, though the solution to the mystery was quite interesting.

I'm debating what to read (or reread) next. I'm not in the mood for angsty things or fantasy/supernatural, which gets rid of most of my bookshelves. Any suggestions?

I'm in love with Panera Bread, and I'm especially in love with the bread from Panera Bread. ^_^
